CV Review and Redevlopment
Working in a marketing role for a large corporation, Lisa is looking for a change. She enjoys her job and likes the people but is increasingly frustrated by her direct line manager. She has developed many skills and has a great career experience but, has progressed as far as she can within her current role.
Lisa started her job search by updating and adding to her CV. As she has been working for some years and has built up such extensive experience and career history, this is now way too long as it extended to 4 pages!
The Solution:
1. After an initial high-level review of the CV, feedback and advice was provided to make this more succinct and impactful
2. As part of the redevelopment Lisa was provided with a copy of our 12-page ‘Creating a Powerful CV’ guide
3. The design was updated to make this more appealing and easier to read
4. Her work experience was repositioned to demonstrate the skills and accomplishments rather than details of the company and roles and responsibilities
5. More space was allocated to her more recent roles while older and less relevant roles were reduced while still highlighting the important skills gained and accomplishments achieved
6. Callout space was given to a candidate summary, key skills, and software experience
7. A final review was provided to improve the wording and correct any remaining typos
The Results:
Lisa’s new CV is now attractive and easy to read, powerfully highlighting her skills and accomplishments over 2 pages. Having only recently completed the CV updates, she is now looking for a new role that meets her requirements.
